حتى لو كانت هناك نظرية موحدة واحدة ممكنة فقط، فهي لا تعدو كونها مجموعة من القواعد و المعادلات. ما هو ذاك الشيء الذي يحرك هذه المعادلات و يخلق كونا كي تتمكن من وصفه؟ المقاربة العلمية المعتادة لبناء نموذج رياضي لا تستطيع الإجابة على سؤال : لماذا يجب أن يكون هناك كون لكي يوجد نموذج يصفه؟ لماذا يتحمل الكون كل هذا العناء كي يوجد؟
